 Diabetes Diagnostic Ranges


Understanding the various blood sugar test results is essential for detecting and managing diabetes. Below are the commonly used tests along with their respective diagnostic ranges:


1. Fasting Blood Glucose (FBS)


Normal: 70 to 99 mg/dL


At Risk (Prediabetes): 100 to 125 mg/dL


Diabetic Range: 126 mg/dL or above




2. Post-Meal Blood Sugar (PPBS – 2 Hours After Eating)


Normal: Less than 140 mg/dL


Prediabetic: Between 140 and 199 mg/dL


Diabetes: 200 mg/dL or more




3. HbA1c (Glycated Hemoglobin)


Normal: Below 5.7%


Prediabetes Range: 5.7% to 6.4%


Diabetic Range: 6.5% and above




4. Random Blood Glucose (RBS)


Normal: Less than 140 mg/dL


Prediabetic: 140 to 199

 mg/dL


Diabetic: 200 mg/dL or higher
